Planning For GrowthThe Province of Ontario ordered municipalities to plan for growth to 2051 that will result in huge population increases in the Lake Simcoe area and related environmental impacts, most notably loss of farmland and increased salt, stormwater runoff, and potentially sewage from new development.
The province then made 80 changes to York Region's Official Plan, made it law, in the fall of 2022, and made it unappealable. So that's what you get. (It is not what your elected officials voted on. It's worse. And yes! That is undemocratic.) These are the province's changes. Here is the latest York Region Official Plan. |
